Optimum Control Guide
Pending and Unlinked Sales
What the "unlinked product" message means, and how to clear it.
"Unlinked product and/or mismatched POS descriptions have been detected" means Squirrel sold something Optimum Control doesn't recognise. Rather than blocking the whole feed, those lines get parked as pending sales and linked up later.
🤔  Why this happens
Optimum Control matches each POS menu item to a product recipe. That link breaks when:
  • A new menu item was added to Squirrel but never set up in Optimum Control.
  • Someone renamed an item on Squirrel — say, "Apple Pie" became "Meatloaf Dinner". The description no longer matches, so the link fails.
  • A POS ID / PLU number changed.
💡 The fix is always the same: create or correct the product in Optimum Control so it matches Squirrel.
⏸️  Storing them as pending
When you save a sales mix and unlinked items appear, you'll be asked:
"Would you like to store all unlinked recipes as pending sales?"
Say yes. That lets the rest of the sales mix process normally, and holds the problem lines so you can deal with them once the products are set up.
📄  Seeing what's pending
1
Click Reports.
2
Choose Sales Reports.
3
Choose Pending Sales.
4
Set your date range. This lists everything that still needs linking.
✅  Processing pending sales
1
Next time you log in, if anything is pending you'll be asked whether you want to complete pending sales. Click Yes.
2
You'll get a pick list of all pending sales and their dates.
3
Choose the date you want to work on.
4
Click Process.
5
The Sales Mix window fills in, ready to save.
6
Create, add, and link the menu products as needed. The totals get added to the sales already recorded for that day.
7
Click Close when finished.
Don't let these pile up
Pending sales are sales the system hasn't counted yet. While they sit there, your ideal usage is understated and your variance looks worse than it really is — the stock went out the door but nothing accounted for it. Clear pending sales before running your period reports, or the numbers won't mean much.
🆘  If something goes wrong
Program problem — errors, crashes, failed saves, a report that won't run → TracRite support at Support@tracrite.net (they know their software best).
"How do I / why does my data look like this?" — missing items, vendors, recipes, or numbers that look off → your F&B manager or executive chef. These are operational questions, not software faults.
Hardware, network, a lost license, or OC missing from a workstation → that's the short list Argus IT handles.
