Optimum Control Guide
Which Report Do I Need?
Start with the question you're asking — this points you at the right report.
Optimum Control has a lot of reports. This article points you at the right one for the common questions, rather than walking through all of them. All reports live in the Reports window on the main toolbar.
🎯  Start with the question you're asking
"Where am I losing money? What's my variance?"
Usage Summary — the core report; compares ideal vs actual usage. See Reading the Usage Summary Report.
"What sold, and how much of it?"
Sales Mix — By Product — the number of each menu item sold, and the revenue.
"What did I count, and what's it worth?"
Inventory / Review Inventory — your counts and their valuation for a given inventory.
"What did I spend with suppliers?"
Purchasing reports — invoices and purchase totals over a period.
"What's a plate or recipe costing me?"
Recipe / Product cost reports — cost and margin on your menu products.
"What sales haven't been linked yet?"
Pending Sales (under Sales Reports). See Pending and Unlinked Sales.
"What got wasted?"
Waste detail, or the waste drill-down inside the Usage Summary.
📅  Almost every report needs a date range
Most reports ask for a period — a start and end date. For usage and variance, that period has to sit between two finalized inventories, or the numbers won't calculate. Pick your dates to match your count dates.
🖨️  Viewing, printing, exporting
Once a report is on screen you can generally print it or export it (commonly to PDF or Excel) using the toolbar. If you need a report regularly, ask your manager whether it can be set up as a favourite so you're not rebuilding it each time.
💡  The two worth running every period
If you only run two reports, run these:
1
Sales Mix — By Product — what you sold.
2
Usage Summary — Count Amounts — where the variances are.
💡 Together they answer: "what went out the door, and does it match what should have?"
🆘  If something goes wrong
Program problem — errors, crashes, failed saves, a report that won't run → TracRite support at Support@tracrite.net (they know their software best).
"How do I / why does my data look like this?" — missing items, vendors, recipes, or numbers that look off → your F&B manager or executive chef. These are operational questions, not software faults.
Hardware, network, a lost license, or OC missing from a workstation → that's the short list Argus IT handles.
