Force Restart an iPhone Using the Buttons

Get a frozen or unresponsive iPhone working again in under a minute.

A force restart fixes a frozen or unresponsive phone and keeps all your data. Nothing is erased.

📱 Force restart

Press and quickly release Volume Up.

Press and quickly release Volume Down.

Press and hold the Side button (right side) until the Apple logo appears — keep holding through the “slide to power off” screen, about 10–20 seconds. Let go when you see the Apple logo.

💡 Don't touch the “slide to power off” slider — just keep holding the Side button until the Apple logo shows.
