Setting Up Your Argus Email on Your Phone

ℹ️ This is the official, easiest way to add your Argus email to your phone. It takes about 3 minutes. All Argus properties now use Microsoft 365 (Office 365), so the same steps apply whether you work at Hotel Eldorado, Manteo Resort, the Four Points hotels, or anywhere else in the company.

⚠️ The Microsoft Outlook app is the ONLY supported email app for Argus accounts on mobile phones. Built-in mail apps (iPhone Mail, Samsung Email, Gmail, etc.) are not supported by Argus IT. If you encounter issues using an unsupported app, we will ask you to switch to Microsoft Outlook before troubleshooting.

📱 First — Is This an Argus-Issued Phone or a Personal Phone?

The setup differs depending on which type of phone you have.

Argus-issued phone (company phone)

All Argus-issued phones are managed by Argus IT. Microsoft Outlook is already installed on your phone — you don't need to download it.

  1. Find the Microsoft Outlook app on your home screen (look for the blue Outlook icon).
  2. Open it.
  3. Sign in with your Argus email address and password if you haven't already.
  4. Then read the Email Quarantine section below.

You can skip the iPhone / Android setup sections below — those are for personal phones.

Personal phone (your own device)

You can use your personal phone to access Argus email, but be aware of the following Argus policies that apply to ANY personal device with an Argus account on it:

⚠️ Argus will enforce a device password policy. Your phone must have a passcode, PIN, fingerprint, or face unlock. If yours is set to no lock or a weak PIN, you'll be prompted to strengthen it before email will work.

⚠️ Argus IT has the ability to remotely lock your phone if it is lost, stolen, or compromised. This is to protect Argus data — we won't use it lightly.

⚠️ Argus IT has the ability to remotely remove only the Argus data (your work email, calendar, contacts) from your personal phone — for example, if you leave the company or report your phone lost. Your personal apps, photos, and data are NOT affected by this remote wipe.

If you're not comfortable with these policies, please use only the Outlook web app at www.outlook.com in your phone's browser — that doesn't enroll your device, but you'll need to sign in each time.

To continue setting up email on your personal phone, follow the iPhone or Android steps below.

You have two phones to consider:

  • iPhone (Apple) — see the iPhone section below.
  • Android (Samsung, Google, etc.) — see the Android section below.

Both methods use the Microsoft Outlook app. This is the only email app supported by Argus IT for accessing your Argus email on a phone. Do not use built-in mail apps such as iPhone Mail, Samsung Email, or Gmail to access your Argus account.

📋 Before You Start — What You Need

  1. Your full Argus email address. Examples: yourname@argusproperties.ca, yourname@eldoradoresort.ca, yourname@fourpointskelowna.com.
  2. Your Argus password. The same one you use to sign in to your computer.
  3. Microsoft Authenticator already set up on your phone (or be ready to set it up — you'll be prompted). If you've never used MFA before, see the related article Setting Up Microsoft Authenticator on a New Phone first.
  4. Approval from your manager, if your company device policy requires it. Check with your manager if you're unsure.

📱 iPhone Setup

Step 1: Download Microsoft Outlook

  1. Open the App Store on your iPhone.
  2. Search for Microsoft Outlook.
  3. Tap Get to install. (It's free.)
  4. Wait for it to finish downloading, then open the app.

Step 2: Add your Argus account

  1. When you open Outlook for the first time, it asks for your email address. Enter your full Argus email address (e.g., yourname@argusproperties.ca).
  2. Tap Add Account.
  3. You'll see an Argus / Microsoft sign-in screen. Enter your Argus password.
  4. You'll likely be prompted for MFA at this point — approve the sign-in using Microsoft Authenticator on the same phone (or another device if your Authenticator is on a different phone).
  5. If asked whether to add another account, tap Maybe Later.

Step 3: Allow notifications (recommended)

When prompted, allow Outlook to send notifications. This way you'll know when new email arrives without having to open the app.

Step 4: Verify it works

You should now see your Argus inbox in the Outlook app. Try sending yourself a test email to confirm everything is working.

🤖 Android Setup

Step 1: Download Microsoft Outlook

  1. Open the Play Store on your Android phone.
  2. Search for Microsoft Outlook.
  3. Tap Install. (It's free.)
  4. Wait for it to finish downloading, then open the app.

Step 2: Add your Argus account

  1. When you open Outlook for the first time, tap Add Account (or Get Started).
  2. Enter your full Argus email address (e.g., yourname@argusproperties.ca).
  3. Tap Continue.
  4. You'll see an Argus / Microsoft sign-in screen. Enter your Argus password.
  5. You'll likely be prompted for MFA at this point — approve the sign-in using Microsoft Authenticator on the same phone (or another device if your Authenticator is on a different phone).
  6. If asked whether to add another account, tap Skip or Maybe Later.

✅ That's It

You're done with the technical setup. However, there's one more important step — see the Email Quarantine section below.

📨 Email Quarantine — IMPORTANT

⚠️ After you add your Argus email to a phone, your account will be quarantined automatically until cleared by Argus IT. This is a security measure to confirm legitimate device enrollments.

You will need to submit an IT ticket to clear the quarantine. Email will not flow to or from your phone until the quarantine is released.

What to do

  1. Once you've completed the Outlook setup, submit an IT ticket with the following info:
    • Subject: "Clear mobile device quarantine for [your name]"
    • Your full Argus email address
    • The phone make/model (e.g., "iPhone 15", "Samsung Galaxy S24")
    • Whether this is an Argus-issued phone or a personal phone
    • Confirmation you used Microsoft Outlook (not an unsupported app)
  2. Once we clear the quarantine, you'll receive a notification and email will start flowing within a few minutes.
  3. Quarantine release happens during business hours. If you set up your phone outside business hours, you may need to wait until the next business day.

Why we do this

The quarantine prevents unauthorized devices from automatically accessing Argus email. Even if someone obtained your credentials, they couldn't simply add your account to their phone and start reading email — IT has to verify and approve the device first.

What You Can Do Right Away

You can use Outlook in three ways:

  • Read and send email from the Outlook app.
  • See your calendar by tapping the Calendar icon at the bottom of the app.
  • Get push notifications for new messages.
  • Search across all your email using the search bar at the top.

🚫 What NOT to Do

  • Don't use the iPhone built-in Mail app, Samsung Email, Gmail, or any other mail app to access your Argus email. These apps are not supported by Argus IT. If you use them and encounter problems, we will not troubleshoot — we will ask you to set up Microsoft Outlook first before continuing.
  • Don't share your password with anyone, including IT. We will never ask for your password over the phone or in a message.
  • Don't ignore MFA prompts you didn't initiate. If your phone buzzes with an MFA approval request when you're not signing in, it could be someone trying to access your account. Decline, then notify IT.

Common Problems

"It won't accept my password"

  1. First, try signing in at www.outlook.com in a web browser using the same email and password.
  2. If that works → your password is fine, the issue is with the Outlook app setup. Delete the account from Outlook and add it again.
  3. If that fails → your password may have expired or your account may be locked. See the related article Outlook Keeps Prompting for Password — First Steps.

"I'm prompted for MFA but my Authenticator isn't working"

You may have switched phones recently. See the related article Setting Up Microsoft Authenticator on a New Phone for recovery.

"It said my account is blocked or locked"

Wait 5 minutes (account lockouts from failed password attempts auto-clear after 5 minutes). If still blocked, submit an IT ticket.

"I added the account but no email is showing up"

The most common cause is the Email Quarantine — your account is held until IT clears it. See the Email Quarantine section above and submit a ticket if you haven't yet.

If quarantine has been cleared and you still don't see email, pull down on the inbox screen to refresh. New accounts can take 1–2 minutes to sync the first time. If still empty after 5 minutes, sign out and sign back in.

"I see an error about device compliance or company policy"

Your phone may need to be enrolled in Argus's device management system. Submit a ticket and we'll help you complete the enrollment.

Removing Your Argus Email From a Phone

If you're leaving Argus, getting a new phone, or just want to remove the account:

iPhone (in the Outlook app):

  1. Open Outlook.
  2. Tap your profile picture/initial in the top-left.
  3. Tap the gear/settings icon.
  4. Tap your Argus account.
  5. Tap Delete Account.

Android (in the Outlook app):

  1. Open Outlook.
  2. Tap your profile picture/initial in the top-left.
  3. Tap the gear/settings icon.
  4. Tap your Argus account.
  5. Tap Delete Account.

You may also want to remove Microsoft Authenticator if you're leaving Argus or replacing the phone — see the related Authenticator article.

When to Submit a Ticket

Submit an IT ticket if:

  • You've tried the steps above and still cannot get email to work.
  • You're getting a "device not compliant" or "blocked by company policy" error.
  • You need IT to remotely remove your work account from a lost or stolen phone.

What to Include in Your Ticket

To resolve this quickly, please tell us:

  1. Your full Argus email address.
  2. iPhone or Android? Model if known.
  3. What exactly happens when you try to sign in — screenshot of any error is ideal.
  4. Can you sign in to www.outlook.com in a web browser using the same email and password? Yes / No.
  5. Is Microsoft Authenticator working for other Argus sign-ins (e.g., when you sign in to your computer)?
  6. Is this a personal phone or company-issued phone?
