Requesting Adobe Acrobat
Paid license, IT-led install, up to 3 business days — plan ahead.
Acrobat Pro / Standard is a paid license
It's installed and configured with IT involvement — not self-service. From manager approval to working software typically takes up to 3 business days.
Adobe Acrobat Reader (free) is already on every Argus workstation — open, view, and print PDFs with no request needed. This article is only for Acrobat Pro or Standard: editing, combining, compressing, redacting, filling, signing, and exporting PDFs.
🕑  The process at a glance
1. Manager / GM approval — you
Explain what you need Acrobat for; email approval is ideal. Tickets without approval are held while we contact your manager — get it first.
2. Submit the IT ticket — you
Use the form below (5 minutes).
3. Create your Adobe ID — you
5 minutes; required before IT can assign a license.
4. IT purchases the license
Up to 3 business days (Adobe's processing).
5. IT assigns it to your Adobe ID
Same day after purchase.
6–7. Schedule + do the install session — you + IT
~30 minutes at your Argus workstation.

🆔  Create your Adobe ID
Required before IT can assign your license — without an Adobe ID, the license has nowhere to go. It must use your company email address.
1
Go to https://account.adobe.com and click Create an account.
2
Email: your company address (yourname@argusproperties.ca, @eldoradoresort.ca, @fourpointskelowna.com…). Name, a strong password (separate from your Argus password), date of birth.
3
Click Create account, then open Adobe's verification email in your company inbox and click the link.
4
Reply to your ticket confirming your Adobe ID is created and verified.
💡 Save the Adobe password somewhere safe (a password manager is best) — you'll need it during the install session, and Adobe accounts are separate from your Argus login.
🛠️  The install session
Don't install Acrobat yourself — several configuration steps need IT present to avoid licensing errors; DIY installs usually end in a follow-up ticket. IT replies to your ticket with time windows — pick one, or explain your constraints and we'll find a time. Be at your assigned Argus workstation for ~30 minutes.
1
IT downloads and installs Acrobat.
2
First launch, then you sign in with your Adobe ID.
3
License verified, standard preferences configured.
4
You confirm everything works before the ticket closes.
❓  Common questions
"Why can't I just download it myself?"
Without an assigned license you get a 7-day trial, then it stops working. The license assignment to your Adobe ID is what makes it permanent.
"Why so long?"
Adobe's license processing is the slow part (up to 3 business days). IT handles the local steps within hours. Submit early in the week with approval already secured.
"Can I have a temporary license?"
No temporary licenses exist through Argus IT. One-off PDF edits: Microsoft Word opens and edits many PDFs directly; online editors exist (never with confidential Argus documents); or print, edit, scan.
"Can someone else use my license?"
No — licenses are per-user, tied to individual Adobe IDs. Sharing violates Adobe's terms and can get the license deactivated.
"Pro or Standard?"
Pro for most Argus use — redaction, advanced editing, OCR, form creation. Standard is slightly cheaper but missing those. Unsure? IT will advise from your request.
✅  After installation
  • The license follows your Adobe ID, not the computer — switching workstations just means signing in again.
  • Don't share your Adobe ID.
  • Leaving Argus? The license is reclaimed and reassigned.
  • Updates are automatic — approve the prompts; they keep it secure.
🆘  Troubleshooting tickets
Already have Acrobat but it stopped working, changed workstations, or need to switch Pro/Standard? Ticket us with: your company email · your Adobe ID · workstation asset tag · the error (screenshot ideal) · when it last worked.
