Optimum Control Guide
Bringing In Your Sales (Sales Mix)
Sales arrive automatically from Squirrel — your job is to check they landed.
🔁 How sales get in here
Automatically, from Squirrel. A background utility processes each day's Squirrel sales straight into Optimum Control — nobody enters them by hand. You may notice the software also has options for importing a sales file or typing in a till tape manually. Those exist, but they're not used here — everything flows from Squirrel automatically. Don't use the manual methods unless your manager specifically directs it.
✅ Your job: check that the days arrived
Because the feed is automatic, your part is verification, not entry. When you open the Sales Mix Calendar (below), scan for two things:
💡 A quick glance when you're in the system — and always before running period reports — catches both.
👀 Viewing your sales
💡 Clicking the date on the calendar shows a graph of that day's sales.
🗑️ Deleting a sale
Sometimes a day comes through twice.
⚠️ Duplicate sales — a common problem
If a day's sales come through twice, the system thinks you sold double — so it thinks you used double the ingredients. Your variance report will then show a large phantom saving. If your reports look impossibly good, check the sales calendar for a doubled-up day before you go looking anywhere else.
❓ "Unlinked products" message
If a message about unlinked products or mismatched POS descriptions appears — or you're asked about pending sales when you log in — Squirrel is selling something Optimum Control doesn't recognise. See Pending and Unlinked Sales.
🆘 If something goes wrong
Program problem — errors, crashes, failed saves, a report that won't run → TracRite support at Support@tracrite.net (they know their software best).
"How do I / why does my data look like this?" — missing items, vendors, recipes, or numbers that look off → your F&B manager or executive chef. These are operational questions, not software faults.
Hardware, network, a lost license, or OC missing from a workstation → that's the short list Argus IT handles.
See Optimum Control — Common Issues and How to Get Help (KB-210001) for the full "who to contact for what" breakdown before reaching out.
