Optimum Control Guide
Finding Your Way Around
Where everything lives, and the one pattern that makes the whole program predictable.
ℹ
Optimum Control looks busy at first, but almost everything works the same way once you know the pattern. This article is the map — where the main functions live, and the habits that make the program feel predictable.
🧭 The main toolbar
The toolbar across the top is your home base. These are the buttons you'll use most:
Count Inventory Create, enter, and finalize inventory counts.
Invoice Enter supplier invoices and receive orders.
Orders Build and send orders to suppliers.
Sales View and manage the sales mix.
Waste Record spoilage and waste.
Items / Preps / Products Set up what you buy, what you make, and what you sell.
Reports Every report, including the Usage Summary.
Settings (upper-left corner) is where setup, security, and utilities live — manager territory.
✋
You have more access than you need — be careful with it
Everyone here shares an admin-level login, so the program will happily let you into setup screens and utilities (including data-deletion tools) that can do real, venue-wide damage. Staying out of Settings unless it's genuinely your job isn't a beginner rule — it's how experienced people avoid expensive accidents.
🔁 The pattern behind every window
Once you spot it, most windows behave exactly the same way:
- Windows open in New mode, ready to create something.
- The list of existing records is on the left — double-click one to open it.
- To make a new one, click New (or Add).
- Most lists have a search box — type part of a name to shorten a long list.
- You build on the right, pick from the left — double-click or drag items across.
- Nothing is saved until you click Save.
If you can drive one window, you can drive most of them.
📅 Calendar windows
Inventory, Invoices, Sales, and Waste all open onto a calendar. Dates that already have entries show a value. Double-click a date to open what's there, or click New to add something. A blank date simply means nothing has been entered or finalized for that day.
💾 Saving, and the log
- Save commits your work. Get in the habit — especially before switching windows.
- Optimum Control keeps a log of key actions like deletions. Nothing you do is a landmine, but it's worth knowing changes are traceable.
🧰 A few handy extras
- Built-in calculator — quick math without leaving the program.
- Collapse All / Expand All — tames long grouped lists (ordering and counting especially).
- Click a column header to sort — works on most reports and lists.
🆘 If something goes wrong
Program problem — errors, crashes, failed saves, a report that won't run → TracRite support at Support@tracrite.net (they know their software best).
"How do I / why does my data look like this?" — missing items, vendors, recipes, or numbers that look off → your F&B manager or executive chef. These are operational questions, not software faults.
Hardware, network, a lost license, or OC missing from a workstation → that's the short list Argus IT handles.
See Optimum Control — Common Issues and How to Get Help (KB-210001) for the full "who to contact for what" breakdown before reaching out.
