Setting Par Levels
Tell the system how much you want on hand — and let it build the orders.

A par level is the amount of an item you want to keep on hand. Once pars are set, Optimum Control can build orders for you — automatically pulling in anything that's dropped below par — so you're not eyeballing every shelf.

Usually a manager task
Pars drive automatic ordering and tie up cash in stock. If you're not sure you should be setting them, check first.
🎯  Why set pars
With par levels in place you can:
  • Use "Include Items Below Par Levels" when creating an order, so low stock is added for you.
  • Order more consistently — less dependent on who's doing it that day.
  • Avoid both running out and over-ordering.
💡 Without pars, every order is built from scratch and memory.

Open the par levels function (Setting Item Par Levels).

Find the item — filter or search if the list is long.

Enter the par level — the quantity you want on hand — in the item's unit of measure.

Save.
💡 You don't have to set a par on everything — start with your regular, predictable movers.
💡  Setting sensible pars
  • Base it on real usage — roughly how much you get through between deliveries, plus a little buffer.
  • Account for delivery frequency — an item delivered twice a week needs a lower par than one delivered every two weeks.
  • Think about shelf life — don't set a par so high that fresh product spoils before you use it.
  • Revisit seasonally — a patio-season par won't fit January.
💡 Preps can have pars too (Setting Prep Par Levels) — useful for batch items you always want a certain amount of prepped and ready.
🆘  If something goes wrong
Program problem — errors, crashes, failed saves, a report that won't run → TracRite support at Support@tracrite.net (they know their software best).
"How do I / why does my data look like this?" — missing items, vendors, recipes, or numbers that look off → your F&B manager or executive chef. These are operational questions, not software faults.
