Optimum Control Guide
Keeping Item Pricing Up to Date
Costing is only as good as the prices behind it.
💵 The easiest way: enter your invoices
For most items, you don't update pricing by hand at all — entering invoices does it for you. When you enter (or receive) an invoice and the price has changed, Optimum Control updates that item's unit cost automatically, and every recipe using it recosts. This is the single biggest reason to keep invoices current. 💡 If your costs look stale, the usual cause is un-entered invoices — not a pricing setting. Catch up the invoices first.
✍️ Updating a price directly
Sometimes you need to set a price without an invoice in hand — a quoted price, a correction, a new item not yet delivered.
💡 The item's cost — and every recipe using it — updates to match.
📊 Why this matters
💡 Keeping prices current — mostly just by entering invoices promptly — is what makes every other number in the system trustworthy.
🆘 If something goes wrong
Program problem — errors, crashes, failed saves, a report that won't run → TracRite support at Support@tracrite.net (they know their software best).
"How do I / why does my data look like this?" — missing items, vendors, recipes, or numbers that look off → your F&B manager or executive chef. These are operational questions, not software faults.
Hardware, network, a lost license, or OC missing from a workstation → that's the short list Argus IT handles.
See Optimum Control — Common Issues and How to Get Help (KB-210001) for the full "who to contact for what" breakdown before reaching out.
