Setting Up Your Argus Email on Your Phone
The official way — about three minutes, same steps at every property.
All Argus properties use Microsoft 365, so these steps apply whether you work at Hotel Eldorado, Manteo Resort, the Four Points hotels, or anywhere else in the company.
Microsoft Outlook is the ONLY supported email app
Built-in mail apps (iPhone Mail, Samsung Email, Gmail, etc.) are not supported by Argus IT. If you have issues in an unsupported app, we'll ask you to switch to Microsoft Outlook before troubleshooting.
📱  First: company phone or personal phone?
Argus-issued phone
Outlook is already installed. Find the blue Outlook icon, open it, sign in with your Argus email and password — then read the Email Quarantine section below. Skip the iPhone/Android sections.
Personal phone
You can use your own phone, but these Argus policies apply to any personal device with an Argus account on it (see below). To continue, follow the iPhone or Android steps.
Policies that apply to personal phones
• A device password is enforced — your phone must have a passcode, PIN, fingerprint, or face unlock; a weak or missing lock gets prompted before email works.
• Argus IT can remotely lock your phone if it's lost, stolen, or compromised — to protect Argus data; not used lightly.
• Argus IT can remotely remove only the Argus data (work email, calendar, contacts) — e.g. if you leave the company. Your personal apps and photos are NOT affected.

Not comfortable with that? Use www.outlook.com in your phone's browser instead — no enrollment, but you sign in each time.
📋  Before you start, you need
1
Your full Argus email address (e.g. yourname@argusproperties.ca).
2
Your Argus password — the one you use on your computer.
3
Microsoft Authenticator already set up (or be ready to — you'll be prompted). Never used MFA? See Setting Up Microsoft Authenticator on a New Phone first.
4
Manager approval, if your device policy requires it — check if unsure.
  iPhone setup
1
Open the App Store, search Microsoft Outlook, tap Get (it's free), and open it.
2
Enter your full Argus email address, then tap Add Account.
3
On the Argus / Microsoft sign-in screen, enter your Argus password.
4
Approve the MFA prompt in Microsoft Authenticator.
5
Asked to add another account? Tap Maybe Later.
6
Allow notifications when prompted (recommended).
7
Verify: your inbox appears — send yourself a test email.
🤖  Android setup
1
Open the Play Store, search Microsoft Outlook, tap Install (free), and open it.
2
Tap Add Account (or Get Started) and enter your full Argus email address, then Continue.
3
On the Argus / Microsoft sign-in screen, enter your Argus password.
4
Approve the MFA prompt in Microsoft Authenticator.
5
Asked to add another account? Tap Skip or Maybe Later.
6
Allow notifications when prompted (recommended).
7
Verify: your inbox appears — send yourself a test email.
Email Quarantine — one more required step
After you add your Argus email to a phone, the account is quarantined automatically until Argus IT clears it — email will not flow to or from the phone until then. This confirms legitimate device enrollments: even with your password, someone couldn't just add your account to their phone and start reading mail.
📨  Clearing the quarantine
1
Submit an IT ticket with subject "Clear mobile device quarantine for [your name]".
2
Include: your full Argus email address; the phone make/model (e.g. "iPhone 15", "Galaxy S24"); whether it's Argus-issued or personal; and confirmation you used Microsoft Outlook.
3
Once cleared, you'll get a notification and email starts flowing within minutes.
💡 Quarantine release happens during business hours — set up outside them and you may wait until the next business day.
🚫  What NOT to do
  • Don't use built-in mail apps (iPhone Mail, Samsung Email, Gmail) for Argus email — unsupported; we'll ask you to switch to Outlook before troubleshooting.
  • Don't share your password with anyone, including IT — we'll never ask for it by phone or message.
  • Don't approve MFA prompts you didn't initiate. A surprise approval request could be someone trying to get in — decline it and notify IT.
🔧  Common problems
"It won't accept my password"
Try signing in at www.outlook.com in a browser. Works there? The password is fine — delete the account from the Outlook app and add it again. Fails there? The password may have expired or the account is locked — see Outlook Keeps Prompting for Password.
"MFA prompts but my Authenticator isn't working"
You may have switched phones recently — see Setting Up Microsoft Authenticator on a New Phone.
"My account is blocked or locked"
Wait 5 minutes — lockouts from failed attempts auto-clear. Still blocked? Submit a ticket.
"Account added but no email showing"
Almost always the quarantine — submit the ticket above if you haven't. Already cleared? Pull down to refresh; first sync takes 1–2 minutes. Still empty after 5? Sign out and back in.
"Device compliance / company policy error"
Your phone may need enrolling in Argus's device management — submit a ticket and we'll walk you through it.
🗑️  Removing your Argus email from a phone
Leaving Argus, replacing your phone, or just want it off? Same steps on iPhone and Android:
1
Open Outlook.
2
Tap your profile picture/initial (top-left).
3
Tap the gear/settings icon.
4
Tap your Argus account.
5
Tap Delete Account.
💡 Leaving Argus or replacing the phone? Also consider removing Microsoft Authenticator — see the Authenticator article.
🆘  When to submit a ticket
  • You've tried everything above and email still doesn't work.
  • You get a "device not compliant" or "blocked by company policy" error.
  • You need IT to remotely remove your work account from a lost or stolen phone.
Include: your Argus email address · iPhone or Android (model if known) · exactly what happens, with a screenshot · whether www.outlook.com works in a browser · whether Authenticator works for other sign-ins · personal or company phone.
