Restart Tablet VMs for Squirrel Mobility
When a tablet blue-screens or the server restarts, the VMs need starting back up.
Each Squirrel Mobility tablet connects to its own VM running in VMware Workstation on the Squirrel server. If a tablet shows a blue screen, or the server has been restarted for any reason, the VMs will need to be restarted (or started, if they're off).
📄  The procedure
The step-by-step instructions live in the attached document below this article: Restart VmWare for Squirrel Tablets.docx. It covers both cases — restarting a running VM, and starting VMs after a server reboot.
💡 Rebooting the whole Squirrel server? Follow the full sequence in Things to Keep in Mind When Rebooting the Squirrel Server (KB-170002) — the VMs are turned off first and started only after the server is completely back.
Reconnect the tablet afterwards
After the VMs restart, each tablet must be reconnected: exit VNC on the tablet, then restart the program. The tablet won't pick the connection back up on its own.
