If the Squirrel server needs to be rebooted for any reason it will take a few process offline that you will have to start up again. Please follow these instructions step by step. For if they are not followed you could be without one of the following once the process is all done.
- The ability to charge to guest rooms through Squirrel
- The ability to use credit cards with Monaris
- The ability to use the tablets
Now if you are on the phone with Squirrel and they want to reboot the Squirrel server. That is okay. Just let them know that a few things will need to be done, and make sure that they do everything that they are suppose to do. I have been through this many times and have seem Squirrel Support miss many steps along the way, and they will not care about integration with your PMS (Property Management System).
Here are the steps.
1. First you must turn off the Opera Interface for Squirrel. If this is not done then any work after this point will be for nothing. I will repeat this. You will have wasted your time. Click on the following link to learn how to turn an Interface on and off.
2. Next you will need to turn off the Tablet VM's. Please use the following documentation. Though instead of restarting them turn them off. Once Squirrel has completely and I mean completely restarted you can restart VMWear and start each VM.
3. Now you can restart the Squirrel Server. It should be noted that the Manteo Squirrel server may take up to 5 minutes to restart. Once you have access do the following checks:
- Make sure the Squirrel Service is started. If Back Office loads then you are good. If it does not load wait a few minutes and try again before contacting Squirrel Support
- Restart all of the Squirrel Terminals.
4. You can now start up the Tablet VMs. Refer to the documentation from Step 2.
5. Start the Eigen Gateway. This is only applicable for the Eldorado. Follow the documentation referenced below.
6. Start the Squirrel Opera Interface.
